HDFLook is a tool for visualizing and analyzing HDF and HDF-EOS files. HDFlook is designed to recognize different MODIS HDF-EOS files.

Pre-built binaries are provided for Intel PC running Cygwin, Linux and MacOS-X, including PowerPC using X11. README provides installation instructions.
If HDFLook is NOT a part of the Msphinx package, then the user has to download the MAPS.tar.Z file to get the map and font files.
At the first use of HDFLook, the user has to define two environment variables with:

One LAADS MODIS HDF-EOS data file was used to demonstrate visualization in HDFLook. Users can download this file from here.
Start HDFLook from the Cygwin command prompt in an X Window shell. HDFLook must open the X Window Display found in the $DISPLAY envioronment.
Select the data file to load.
Select the HDF-EOS data File Variable to display.
The user can adjust the plot's display color map.
The user can adjust the plot's map projection.
